Warriors, Meteors compete at tennis districts

Elk Lake and Montrose Area both competed at the District II Class AA tennis singles championships at KirbyPark on Tuesday with Elk Lake’s Kyleen Sisson advancing into the second round.

Sisson advanced in the tournament after defeating Holy Cross’ Laura Drapek in the first round, 6-3, 6-0.

However, in second round action, Sisson was downed 6-0, 6-0 by Holy Redeemer’s Nellie Chmil to face elimination.

Also competing for Elk Lake was Lindsey Shingler, who faced a first round loss to Western Wayne’s Leanna O’Hora by a score of 6-4, 6-3.

For Montrose, Megan Hinds was defeated in the first round by Valley View’s Kaitlin Barno in a heated match that went 4-6, 6-4, 6-4.

Also competing for the Lady Meteors was Gracee Bulger, who was handed a 6-2, 6-4 loss fromRiverside’s Liz Cannon to be eliminated from the competition.
