Foresters play for Division title

Forest City faced Holy Cross for the Small School Division championships on Tuesday, Sept. 30. Results were not available at press time. Forest City picked up a semifinal win over Riverside on Friday at Pine Hills to make it to the final round.

In last week’s golf action on the back nine at Sleepy Hollow on Monday (Sept. 22), Mitchell Blake and Adam Kowalewski had individual wins for Forest City in a tie with Lakeland.

Individuals: Tony Harding (LAK) over Sean McCormick, 4 and 3; Mitchell Blake (FC) over Connor Albino, 1-up; Kaycie Gavin (LAK) and Dylan O’Dell (FC) split; Curtis Reeves (LAK) and Nick Rutledge (FC) split; Adam Kowalewski (FC) over Patrick Clauss-Walton, 3 and 2; Sean Pittack (LAK) by forfeit.

Better-ball: McCormick-Blake over Harding-Albino, 1-up; Gavin-Reeves and O’Dell-Rutledge split; Clauss-Walton-Pittack over Kowalewski, 1-up.

At Memorial Links, Adam Kowalewski and Sean McCormick won three points in the first group to lead Forest City in a Lackawanna League Small School Division playoff match, 7-2, over Dunmore.

Individuals: Sean McCormick (FC) over Joe Palko, 1-up; Adam Kowalewski (FC) over Chris Murray, 3 and 1; Zach Pigga (DUN) over Noah Fedak, 3 and 1; Mitchell Blake (FC) over Sean Dempsey, 3 and 1; Dylan O’Dell (FC) over Joe Weber, 4 and 2; Nick Rutledge (FC) and Dominic DiPietro (DUN) split.

Better-ball: McCormick-Kowalewski over Palko-Murray, 3 and 2; Fedak-Blake and Pigga-Dempsey split; O’Dell-Rutledge over Weber-DiPietro, 3 and 2.

At Golden Oaks, Olivia Rockwell won her individual match for Blue Ridge in a 7½ – 1½ loss to Dunmore.
Individuals: Dominic DiPietro (DUN) over John Ball, 3 and 2; Joe Weber (DUN) over Mike Pelecci, 2 and 1; Sean Dempsey (DUN) over Seth Conrad, 2 and 1; Zach Pigga (DUN) over Abigail Roe, 2 and 1; Olivia Rockwell (BR) over Chris Murray, 4 and 3; Joe Palko (DUN) over Isabella Cosmello, 4 and 2.

Better-ball: DiPietro-Weber over Ball-Pelecci, 3 and 1; Dempsey-Pigga over Conrad-Roe, 1-up; Murray-Palko and Rockwell-Cosmello split.

On the back nine at Sleepy Hollow, Austin Smith, Claeb Hoal and Kory Morrison won their individual matches to lead Montrose in a Lackawanna League Small School Division playoff match, 5-4, over Lakeland.
Montrose dropped its match to Holy Cross in the semifinals on Friday at Scott Greens.

Individuals: Austin Smith (MON) over Sean Pittack, 1-up; Patrick Clauss-Walton (LAK) and Brad Wayman (MON) split; Caleb Hoal (MON) over Tony Harding, 3 and 1; Connor Albino (LAK) over Brianna Baker, 4 and 3; Kaycie Gavin (LAK) over Andreas Mittman, 3 and 1; Kory Morrison (MON) over Curtis Reeves, 2-up.
