The Lady Eagles took on the Lady Meteors in softball action at Montrose on Monday, April 14. The game was a pitching/catching duel between Mt. View’s Samantha Krisa and Ariana Gabriel and Montrose’s Lacy Nealy and Anastasia Hester. There was no scoring until the fourth inning when Krisa went on the offense and got on base to be batted in by teammate Megan Stenzhorn and scored the first run of the game and Mt. View a 1-0 lead.

Montrose centerfielder, Nicki Lewis, had the play of the game in the top of the third inning when she threw the ball from deep in center field to Hester who was able to tag Mt. View’s Gabriel out at the plate and stop Mt. View from taking a 2-0 lead.

In the bottom of the final inning, with their backs against the wall, the Lady Meteors knew they had to get some hits and get on base to either tie or win the game. Katie Warner did just that, getting on base and was batted in by Anastasia Hester to tie the game. With Hester in scoring position, Julia Amorino came to bat and was able to get the winning RBI as Hester came in for the winning run and taking the victory with a final score of 2-1.

Krisa pitched into the seventh for the Lady Eagles, gave up four hits, two earned runs, one walk and had two strike outs.

Nealy, who has a 1.40 ERA and is undefeated in league play so far, got the win for Montrose by pitching seven innings. She gave up seven hits and one walk with two strike.
