Lady Eagles clinch Division IV soccer title

The Mountain View soccer team won 4-1 at home against Elk Lake Wednesday to clinch the Division IV title.

Megan Getz had a goal and three assists, two of which came to Jenny Molenko, to lead the Lady Eagles, who remain undefeated at 10-0. Ali Virbitsky also netted a goal in the win.

Goalie Jaye Winemiller recorded two saves for Mountain View’s fifth consecutive shutout.

MONTROSE
The Lady Meteors soccer team came away with a 3-2 win over Forest City at home Wednesday and a 2-1 win at Lakeland Tuesday.

Against Forest City, Meghan Gilhool’s second goal of the game in the 77th minute broke the 2-2 tie and propelled Montrose to the win.

Nicki Lewis also added a goal while Kaylee Russell and Meagan Goben each had an assist. Anna Churcho had eight saves in the win.

At Lakeland, Myra Lattimore put Montrose on the board first with a goal in the 19th minute off an assist from Gilhool.

The game remained tied until late in the second half when Hannah Dieck found Lewis for a goal in the 77th minute that would prove to be the game winner.

Churco was kept busy all game and earned 20 saves for the Lady Meteors, who improved to 8-2 with the wins.

ELK LAKE

The Elk Lake girls’ soccer team lost 7-2 at Lakeland Friday, 3-2 at Carbondale Thursday and 4-0 at Mountain View Wednesday to fall to 2-8 on the year.

Two Lakeland players had hat tricks in the win, out shooting the Lady Warriors 21-4.

Katelin Graves scored in the 23rd minute off an assist from Shelby Valvano, and Mackenna Ellis netted the game’s final goal in the 61st minute for Elk Lake.

Lydia Hunsinger had a busy game with 14 saves for the Lady Warriors.
Cardondale jumped ahead early with two goals in the first half before Valvano answered with a goal in the 9th minute to cut the lead to 2-1.

In the second half, Carbondale added to the lead with eight minutes left in the game, but the Lady Warriors responded two minutes later with a goal by Ellis.

Elk Lake ran out of opportunities however and could not tie the score in the final minutes.

Both offensives fired 12 shots in the game, and Hunsinger earned eight saves in the loss.

At Mt. View, Hunsinger had 13 saves in the loss for the Lady Warriors.
The Lady Eagles clinched the Division IV title and remain undefeated with the win.

FOREST CITY

The Lady Foresters soccer team lost 3-2 at Montrose Wednesday and dropped to 4-5 overall.

Mackenzie Keller put Forest City on the board in the 13th minute off an assist from Carly Erdmann, who would tie the game in the 70th minute off an assist from Meagan Goben.

Goalie Morgan Gasper had eight saves in the loss.
