Lady Meteors win four-straight

The Lady Meteors strung together four-straight wins against Elk Lake, Forest City, Holy Cross and Carbondale Area and improved to 4-1 after losing their season opener.

Against Carbondale on Saturday, Meghan Gilhool earned a hat-trick to lead Montrose. Anna Churco had three saves for the shutout.

Myra Lattimore and Callista Newhart each had a goal while Hanna Dieck had a goal and an assist as the Lady Meteors shutout Holy Cross 3-0, Thursday. Churco had six saves for Montrose.

Nicki Lewis scored the game-winning goal off a Kassidi Ramirez assist for a 2-1 overtime win Wednesday  at Forest City. Lattimore got the Lady Meteors on the board first off an assist from Gilhool.

Churco was kept busy at the net and had 14 saves.

The Lady Meteors also had a 3-0 shutout at Elk Lake on Sept. 17.

Gilhool had a goal and an assist to Lattimore in the first two minutes of the game to lead Montrose.

Hannah Dieck chipped in an unassisted goal in the second half the seal the win. Churcho had five saves for the Lady Meteors.

MT. VIEW

The Lady Eagles shutout Dunmore, 4-0, on Sunday after a 14-2 blowout against Carbondale on Thursday. Mountain View remains unbeaten at 4-0.

Against Dunmore, Jenny Molenko had two goals while Hannah Richner chipped in a goal and an assist for the Lady Eagles. Jay Winemiller also had 3 saves.

Molenko also had four goals and an assist in the win over Dunmore, while Makenna Whitaker and Megan Getz each had two goals and an assist.

FOREST CITY

The Lady Foresters dropped to 1-4 after three-straight losses, including a 2-1 overtime loss to Montrose Wednesday, a 2-1 loss to Lakeland Thursday and a 4-2 loss at Holy Cross Saturday.

Meagan Goben had an assist to Cassandra Bendyk against Montrose, and had two goals against the Crusaders and the lone goal against Lakeland to lead Forest City.

Morgan Gasper had 9, 10 and 17 saves respectively in the games.

ELK LAKE

The Elk Lake girls’ soccer team earned its first win of the season by beating Mid Valley 4-1 at home Thursday before falling to Mountain View 13-1 Monday.

Senior Olivia Laudeman put the Lady Warriors on the board 50 seconds into the game against Mid Valley and the game would go tied into the half 1-1.

A Mid Valley player knocked the ball into her own net and Elk Lake’s Leah Ofalt netted two goals to seal the win.

Katelin Graves scored the lone goal for Elk Lake of an assist from Shelby Valvano against the Lady Eagles.
