Elk Lake placed its first five runners in the Top 20 Saturday to win the team title in the Girls White A division at the Seventh PIAA Foundation Invitational on the Hershey Parkview Course.

It was the second year in a row that the Elk Lake girls have taken the title.

Junior Kenzie Jones led the way for the Lady Warriors, placing fifth in 20 minutes and 43 seconds. That was about 90 seconds behind race winner Marianne Abdallah, of Vincentian Academy.

Freshman Justine Johns was seventh in 21:01 for Elk Lake. Katie Bennett finished ninth at 21:05, freshman Julie Van Etten finished 18th at 21:28 and freshman Lexus Hemenway finished 19th at 21:37.

Senior Elizabeth Trowbridge (23:29, 43rd) and sophomore Adrianna Parrett (33:26, 121) rounded things out for the Lady Warriors.

Montrose Area placed third in the team standings with 88 points. Samantha Bennici led the Lady Meteors, finishing eighth in 21:01. Allison Lewis was 13th in 21:21, Emma Washo 17th in 21:26, Paige Dolaway 21st in 21:52; and Angela  Russell 29th in 22:39.

Also running for Montrose was Taylor Warner, 74th at 24:58; and Avanlea Bixby, 99th at 26:39.

Susquehanna Community was 15th with 365 points. Mikayla Hargett (22:44, 31st) and Ivy Christensen (22:57, 32nd) led the Lady Sabers. Others placing were Alyssa Sweeney (73rd, 24:57), Jessica Plutino-Gilleran (114th, 28:47), Lauren Soden (115th, 28:49) and Jessica Lamb (118th, 30:55).

BOYS’ FINISHES

In the Boys’ White A Race, Elk Lake was fourth in the team standings with 163 ponts, well off the winning pace set by Masterman with 46 points.

The Warriors Top Five finishers were among the first 50 across the finish line.

Elk Lake’s lead runner Eddie Cumens, a junior, finshed 18th in 17:51. First place finisher in the White Race was Julian Degroot-Lutzner, who completed the course in 16:55.

Coming in behind Cumens for Elk Lake were: junior Hunter Bedell (18:19, 22nd); junior Dalton Sherman (18:55, 35th); freshman Daniel Bell (19:04, 42nd); freshman Seth Owens (19:08, 56th); senior Brandon Roman (20:17, 83rd); and sophomore Ty Moon (20:48, 89th).

Senior Brandon Soden’s 32nd place finish in 18:50 helped Susquehanna Community finish 18th with 457 points.

Other Sabers completing the course: junior Justin Acone (19:52, 67th); senior Mark Zappe (21:25, 104th); senior Nick Acosta (23:52, 126th); senior Nick Chamberlain (24:07, 128th); and junior Clayton Hansen (26:49, 134th).

Also, Montrose Area entered an incomplete team, in the Boys’ AA Blue Race Saturday.

Placing for the Meteors were freshman Austin Dolaway (21:45, at 160th), junior Ethan Stankewicz (22:10, at 164th) and freshman Dylan Hummel (25:36, at 182nd).

They were well off the winning pace of 16:43 set by Lake-Lehman’s Dominic Hockenbury.
