The Mountain View School Board held its reorganization meeting for 2013 on Monday night, Dec. 3.

Current board president Dr. Todd Adams retained that position, and director Thomas Stoddard will continue serving as first vice president.  Director Ellen Aherne was selected second vice president.

The board decided to postpone committee appointments to a future meeting.

Joseph E. Patchcoski of Dunmore was appointed business manager for the district at an annual salary of $62,500, with no health care coverage.  He replaces Janice Finnochio who recently retired from that position.

Superintendent Francine Shea was authorized to sign checks for the General Fund and Cafeteria Fund.

The board also approved the appointment of Matthew R. Voda as special education teacher at an annual salary of $57,057.

In other business, the board approved the following holiday season field trips:

*30 National Honor Society and Junior Honor Society members to participate in Christmas caroling at Gino Merli Veteran’s Center and Allied Rehab Hospital in Scranton on December 17;

*24 Chimette student musicians to perform in the communities of Susquehanna, Forest City, South Montrose, Montrose, Harford and New Milford on various dates in December; and

*11 students to offer Christmas carols at area nursing homes on December 13.

By a vote of 8-1, the board rejected a request for Corrine R. McNabb to a attend a Title II reading conference, “What’s New in Young Adult Literature,” on Dec. 4 in Bethlehem, which would have cost $229 for registration and $85 to provide a substitute teacher for McNabb.
