Heroin dealer gets 5 years

BY STACI WILSON

An Oakland Borough man who admitted to selling heroin from his home was sentenced Monday to serve the mandatory minimum five year sentence for the offense.

Stephen Whritenour, 31, pleaded guilty in October in Susquehanna County Court to one count of possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver.

In a May 31 state parole check at the residence, officers discovered 15 grams of glassine packaged heroin hidden in a puzzle box in the living room of the home.

Whritenour was on parole for a similar charge stemming from a 2009 incident at the time of his arrest in May, District Attorney Jason Legg said at the October plea hearing.

As part of the plea agreement, Whritenour’s sentence will run concurrent with the parole violation sentence.
