Locals compete in Mid-East XC regional

Several local college cross country runners competed in the NCAA Mid East Regional cross country championships on Saturday, hosted by Dickinson College in Big Springs.

Blue Ridge graduate Mike Robbs, a freshman at Keystone College, took 249th place at Regionals with a time of 30:01.2, after he placed 17th overall at the CSAC’s with a time of 30:17,

53rd overall at CSAC’s with a time of 33:53, and did not compete in Regionals.

Gettysburg College freshman Jeff Horvath, an Elk Lake graduate, took 119th overall at Regionals on Saturday with a 27:57.9 finish.

Horvath took 54th overall in the Centennial Conference championship with a time of 27:30 a week earlier.

Cairn University senior Ellen Squier, an Elk Lake graduate, paced her team in the 6K as she took 71st overall with a time of 24:38 on Saturday.

Squier took 14th place overall in the CSAC girls’ race with a time of 21:54 to head to Regionals.

A pair of Blue Ridge graduates, senior Laurie Hall and sophomore Allison Hall each completed their seasons with a trip to the NCAA Atlantic Regional race as Allison took 58th at 24:26 and Laurie placed 74th at 24:46.
