Kempa sets King’s record

While King’s College may have lost the 17th annual Mayor’s Cup game 44-32 to Wilkes University at Schmidt Stadium on Saturday, former Susquehanna Community football player Dan Kempa had a standout performance.

Kempa, a sophomore, set a King’s College school record on Saturday at wide receiver with 237 receiving yards in the contest.

He was named most valuable player for King’s as he had 10 catches, the second-highest single-game total in King’s history, and three touchdowns.

In addition to his 10 receptions, Kempa added 85 kick return yards and 17 punt return yards to amass 339 all-purpose yards in the game.

Kempa was also named Middle Atlantic Conference Offensive Player of the Week.

He finished the season with a team-high 31 catches for a Monarch-best 648 yards with four touchdowns.

Kempa also chipped in with 31 kick returns for 513 yards and one score while adding an addition 203 yards on 19 punt returns.

He tallied 1,368 all-purpose yards on 83 touches.
