The Montrose Area boys’ tennis doubles team of Chris Jordan-Isaac Mitchell made a run into the quarterfinal round of the District II Class AA championships on Wednesday.
Jordan-Mitchell took a first round victory over seventh-seeded Branden Ott-Matt James of Meyers, 6-2, 7-5.
In the second round, the pair defeated Ryan McCarthy-Blake Donovan of Dallas, 6-3, 2-6, 7-6(3).
However, in the quarterfinal round, the second-seeded Scranton Prep team of Will Cognetti-Walker Temperton handed the Meteor pair a 6-1, 6-2, loss to send them home.
Also competing on Wednesday was a team of Michael Roman-Bryan Shultz, who won their first round match.
Roman-Shultz defeated Francois Ross-Tyler Tuck in the first round, 2-6, 7-6 (2), 6-0.
The pair went on however to take a second round loss to the fifth-seeded Holy Cross team of Rob Azzarelli-Tim Thomas, 4-6, 6-2, 6-3.
