Teen arraigned for pharmacy burglary

ALawtonteen accused of stealing drugs from the Montrose Medical Arts Pharmacy in October was arraigned Monday on three separate criminal cases in Montrose District Court.

Derek Stang, 19, was released on unsecured bail and immediately placed on bail supervision by District Judge Jeffrey Hollister.

Stang faces a felony count of possession with intent to deliver in connection with an Oct. 2 incident in Bridgewater Twp.

Stang was the driver of a vehicle parked in the Emberz parking lot where drugs were found.

Stang was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia after police found a glass pipe which, police said, Stang admitted was his.

Passenger Ian Ball was also charged in connection with that case. He is currently awaiting trial in the Susquehanna County Court of Common Pleas.

In connection with the Oct. 26 pharmacy burglary, Stang faces three felony counts: burglary, criminal trespass and possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance.

Misdemeanor counts of theft, receiving stolen property and possession of a controlled substance were also lodged against him.

Stang also faces possession charges in connection with a Sept. 3 incident in Montrose.

A preliminary hearing in all three pending cases was scheduled for Dec. 19.

In addition to theSusquehannaCountycases, Stang has also been charged in the burglaries of pharmacies in Sullivan and Bradford counties.
