New Milford lines up fuel, material suppliers

BY STACI WILSON

The New Milford Township supervisors lined up its fuel and material suppliers for this year at the February 19 meeting.

Lindsey Oil was awarded the bulk of the fuel bids and will be supplying the township with gasoline, diesel and equipment fuel along with oil.

The township will pay $3.68 per gallon for oil this year and will receive a discount off the daily posted rate for the other fuels.

McCain Gas and Electric was awarded the propane bid – coming in at $1.99 per gallon for 2014.

The supervisors voted to use Damascus 535, New Milford, as its primary source for various stone needed for roadwork projects, but also accepted the other bidders (Lopke, Eastern Industries and Pennsy Supply) as secondary suppliers.

Supervisor and Roadmaster Jack Conroy said the township approved all of the suppliers because sometimes it becomes difficult to secure the materials necessary for the roadwork.

Suit-Kote was approved as the primary supplier of liquid calcium, with Vestal Asphalt also accepted as a supplier.

Southwestern Energy gas well drilling permits were submitted to the Pennsylvania Dept. of Environmental Protection for the following: Scarlet Oak Pad, Stump Pond Rd., four wells; Platus pad, Highland Rd., 3 wells; Koziol Pad, Rice Rd., one well; Bienko Pad, Howell Rd., 6 wells; Baldwin Diaz Pad, Peck Hill Rd., one well.

Susquehanna Gathering submitted an air quality plan to DEP for the purpose of natural gas production.

DTE Energy submitted erosion and sediment control plans to DEP for the Salt Lick Pipeline, which includes two miles of 12-inch pipe and 16-inch pipe from a well pad in Jackson Twp. to the Bienko pad in New Milford Twp.

Township Emergency Management Coordinator Ken Bondurant said neighboring landowners had received notification from Southwestern about well water testing that would take place near drilling sites.

The next meeting of the New Milford Twp. supervisors will be held Wednesday, March 19, at 7:30 p.m., in the township building, Rt. 11, New Milford.
