Western Wayne picked up six pins and won 11 out of 14 matches to cruise to a convincing 63-15 victory over Blue Ridge in a Lackawanna League Division II wrestling match.

The win puts the Wildcats (2-0) in the driver’s seat to win their fifth consecutive division crown.

Brett Toth and Evan Grimm started the night for Western Wayne with two pins at 120 pounds and 126, respectively, to give their team a 12-0 lead. After Blue Ridge’s (3-1) Zach Edwards pinned Josh Brown at 145 to cut the deficit to 15-12, Western Wayne went on a tear, scoring the next 48 points.

For Blue Ridge, Kyle Bayle picked won by forfeit in the 132 lb. class; and David Austin picked up a 11-7 overtime decision at 113 over James Maloy.

Lackawanna Trail’s Billy Lee, Thomas Fricke and Jordan Hannon each posted a first-period pin and the Lions were the recipients of five forfeits as they posted a 51-19 Lackawanna League Division II victory over Elk Lake on Sunday.

Francisco Lopez and Blake Chew had pins for Elk Lake.

Blaise Cleveland won a major decision, 14-6, in his bout at 182 with Trent Phillips; and Brian Henderson won a 6-5 decision over Jericho Hendershot at 220.
