Capitalizing on Montrose miscues, Susquehanna won its third straight game, 35-0, against its rival at home Friday to win the Bluestone Trophy for the second straight year.

With a 14-0 lead, Susquehanna (4-3 overall, 2-0 in Division III) seized control of the game in the second half.

After Austin White scored his second touchdown, the Sabers turned two fumbles into points in less than a minute to pull away.

One play after the first turnover, White weaved his way through the defense for his third rushing touchdown and a 28-0 lead with 5:03 left in the third.
White led the Sabers with 108 yards rushing on 11 carries. He also threw a 35-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter.

On its next possession, Montrose (0-7, 0-3) fumbled again, this time giving the Sabers the ball in scoring position.

Two plays later, Austin Felter cashed in with a 2-yard run to give Susquehanna a 35-0 lead with 4:11 remaining in the quarter.

Montrose had trouble moving the ball against a fired up Susquehanna defense. The Meteors managed only two first downs and 66 total yards in 30 plays.

“Our defense has played well all season long, keeping us in certain games, so it was nice to see them able to dominate tonight” Susquehanna coach Kyle Cook said.

The first time Montrose reached Susquehanna territory came on their final drive in the fourth that started at the Sabers 35-yard line.

However, it stalled at the 8-yard line, as the Meteors turned it over on downs with 3:18 left.
