The Elk Lake boys’ basketball team grabbed a 64-24 win over Forest City on the road Saturday after it took a 65-62 victory over Mountain View at home on Thursday night and a 68-33 victory over Northeast Bradford at home Wednesday.

On Saturday, the Warriors jumped out to an early lead and held it as they paced Forest City 17-3 in the first quarter and 16-13 in the second to lead 33-16 at halftime.

In the second half, Elk Lake led the way 15-2 in the third and 16-6 in the fourth to cap the win.

Rob Heft scored 14 points while Matt Woolcock and Tyler Arnold each added 11 points to pace the Warriors.

Jon DeEsch led Forest City with 10 points while Matt Nevins added five.

On Thursday, Warrior coach John Warnero picked up his 100th career victory as Elk Lake edged the Eagles 65-62.

It was a tight game throughout the first half with the Eagles taking an early 18-14 lead after the first quarter. Elk Lake battled back to hold a two point lead, 33-31, at halftime.

After the break, Mountain View brought the game to within one with a 12-11 run over Elk Lake in the third, but a 21-19 fourth quarter for the Warriors was enough to beat the Eagles.

Tanner Reyan and Heft each scored seven points in the fourth quarter to lead the Warriors to the win as Heft finished with a game-high 24 points and Reyan added 21. Woolcock chipped in 10.

On Wednesday, the Warriors took an early lead with a 21-6 run in the first quarter and went on to pace the Rangers 23-13 in the second to hold a 44-19 lead at the half.

In the second half, the Warriors outscored Northeast Bradford 15-7 in the third and 9-7 in the fourth to cap the victory.

Heft scored 17 points to lead Elk Lake while Reyan, Nick Dudock and Arnold each dropped in 11.

Blue Ridge

Blue Ridge’s boys’ basketball team took a 69-50 win over Mountain View on the road Saturday and grabbed a 74-56 victory over Montrose at home on Thursday night.

Facing the Eagles, the Raiders fell to a 17-16 disadvantage after the first quarter, but paced the Eagles 18-11 in the second to grab a 34-28 halftime lead.

In the second half, Blue Ridge outscored Mountain View 19-11 in the third and 16-11 in the fourth to come away with the victory.

Blue Ridge’s Sawyer Dearborn led all scorers with 35 points while Mike Gahtany added nine and TJ Loomis had eight.

For Mountain View, Nick Schermerhorn scored 18 points while Nate Goodenough had 16 and Derek Bradley scored six.

On Thursday, the Raiders opened up with a big first half, pacing Montrose 20-12 in the first quarter and 19-7 in the second to post a 39-19 lead by halftime.

In the second half, Montrose outscored the Raiders 16-13, but Blue Ridge held strong, posting a 22-21 run in the fourth to take the win.

Dearborn led Blue Ridge with 40 points and six rebounds on the night while Chris Carlsen added 13 and Gathany had 10 points and seven rebounds.

Montrose was paced by Cameron Dean with 17 points, while Erik Burgh scored 12 and Troy Ely and Lance Nealy each added eight.

Susquehanna

Susquehanna’s boys’ basketball team was handed a 66-64 overtime loss to Lackawanna Trail on the road Saturday after the team picked up a 67-50 victory over Forest City at home on Thursday night.

Against Trail, the teams battled back-and-forth through the first half with the Sabers outscoring the Lions, 20-8, in the first quarter and the Lions outscoring the Sabers, 16-15, in the second to make it 35-24 at halftime.

The teams came out after halftime and each scored 16 in the third quarter before Lackawanna Trail paced the Sabers 19-8 in the third to send the game into overtime where the Lions outscored Susquehanna 7-5 to take the win.

Cole Mallery led Susquehanna with 23 while Andrzej Tomczyk had 21 and J. Wheeler scored nine.

On Thursday, the Sabers got out to an early advantage posting a 16-12 run in the first quarter and a 13-10 run in the second to hold a 29-22 lead at the half.

After the break, Forest City paced Susquehanna 18-15 in the third, but a 23-10 fourth for the Sabers sealed the deal.

Mallery scored 13 of his game-high 25 points in the fourth quarter to help Susquehanna pull away while Tomczyk added 16.

Forst City was led by Matt Nevins with 23 while Jesse Korty had 10.

Montrose

The Montrose boys’ basketball team faced a 46-29 loss from Holy Cross at home on Saturday and was handed a 57-25 loss from Scranton Prep on Monday.

On Saturday, the Meteors were outscored 7-6 and 9-7 in the first half to trail the Crusaders 16-13 at halftime.

In the second half, Holy Cross outscored Montrose 10-5 in the third and 20-11 in the fourth to hand them the loss.

Cameron Dean led the Meteors with 12 points while Erik Burgh had seven and Brenton Warner and Joe Zuber each had four.

On Monday, the Meteors fell behind early as Scranton Prep outscored them 16-4 in the first quarter. Montrose then paced the Cavaliers 11-10 in the second, but were at a 26-15 deficit at the half.

In the second half, Scranton Prep sealed the win with a 14-8 run in the third and a 17-2 run in the fourth.

Burgh led Montrose with seven points while Lance Nealy and Warner each added six and Dean had four.
