At the Dec. 11 meeting of Susquehanna Borough Council, solicitor Michael Briechle was asked to draw up an ordinance that would allow council to appoint a member to the Tri-Boro Municipal Authority board.

Briechle attended the meeting to give council a yearend review.

The present TBMA board has five members; three from Susquehanna borough and two from Oakland borough. Serving on the board from Susquehanna are: Robert Burns, Chris Herbert and Steve Glover who was appointed by Susquehanna council to a five-year term on last Jan. 10,; Roger Holleran and Michael Ryder represent Oakland. This number of board members was set when the authority was incorporated in 1971. It would appear that the next appointment would be from Oakland.

Briechle also discussed codes issues with council. Council also requested for Blight Enforcement Act that would target those in constant violation. The attorney said the borough has a lot on the books dealing with enforcement but he was told this would be one more tool that could be used in the fight the problem.

Bill Malos from Pennsylvania American Water Company brought a site plan of the water tower project for council’s approval.

Council was told the work cannot begin until the contract with the borough is finalized. Malos was told the contract between the borough and PAWC would be finalized at the Dec. 27 meeting.

Council voted to have one consolidated meeting per month, the third Wednesday of every month for calendar year 2013. They also approved payment to CB Excavating from Capital Reserve Street Improvements for East Street.
