Heroin seized in traffic stop

A Bronx, N.Y., man faces drug charges after police found 239 glassine packets of heroin in a vehicle he was traveling in Sunday, Sept. 23.

Rashaan Samuels, 36, was charged by Tpr. Paul Lindsay with possession with intent to deliver and other related counts.

Samuels was the passenger of a vehicle stopped for a traffic violation on I-81, New Milford Twp. During a search, Samuels claimed ownership of a bag in the trunk of the vehicle. The bag contained the heroin packets.

Police also seized $1103 in cash from Samuels.

He was arraigned in front of District Judge Jeffrey Hollister and is being held in the Susquehanna County Correctional Facility on $500,000 bail.

A preliminary hearing was scheduled for Oct. 1 in New Milford District Court.
