Montrose Area’s girls’ tennis team opened the season last week with a pair of wins over Mid Valley on Tuesday andDelawareValleyon Thursday.

Thursday’s match at Montrose saw Megan Hinds win the No. 1 singles match and the team swept the doubles matches againstDelawareValley.

On Tuesday, Lady Meteors Hinds, Jen Reed and Anna Ruseski won their singles matches to lead the team to a 4-1 win over Mid Valley in the season opener.

Montrose 3, Delaware Valley 2

Singles: Megan Hinds (MON) over Dominique Marcial, 6-3, 6-4; Liz Cadwell (DV) over Jen Reed, 6-3, 6-3; Emily Belsterling (DV) over Anna Ruseski, 6-2, 6-0.

Doubles: Ceara Hartman-Victoria Hinds (MON) over Alyssa Mongiol-Katelyn Kenneston, 3-6, 6-3, 6-2; Erica Reeves-Lizzy Escobar (MON) over Anna Spier-Danielle Krik, 6-3, 6-1.

Montrose 4, Mid Valley 1

Singles: Megan Hinds (MON) over Julie May, 6-1, 6-0; Jen Reed (MON) over Vicki Mazza, 6-2, 6-1; Anna Ruseski (MON) over Jessie Brudnicki, 7-6 (5), 3-6, 6-1.
