Man free on bail found with teen

WILLIAM MORECK II

BY STACI WILSON

A new charge was filed against a Laceyville man previously accused of having a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old girl and exposing himself to employees at a Rush Twp. convenience store.

A corruption of minors charge was filed against William Moreck II, 24, after police allegedly found him sleeping in bed with the same teen girl in an Auburn Twp. trailer on Aug. 1. Moreck was taken into custody and is now being held on $20,000 bail.

He waived his Monday, Aug. 6, preliminary hearing on the charge in front of District Judge Jeffrey Hollister in Montrose.

The latest count was filed by Tpr. Christopher Cole who was dispatched on a criminal trespass complaint to the trailer on Rt. 3005.

According to the affidavit, Moreck had arrived at the trailer at about1:30 a.m., July 31, and stayed overnight with the teenager without the property owner’s permission.

Police spoke with the juvenile’s mother and it was discovered the girl had provided Tpr. Cole with a fake name as she knew she was not permitted to be around Moreck, according to the criminal complaint.

In addition to the July 31 corruption charge, Moreck also faces three counts of statutory sexual assaut and three counts of corruption of minors – all felony charges, and 15 misdemeanor counts of indecent exposure – in connection with the previously filed allegations.

Those counts have already bound over the Court of Common Pleas for trial and Moreck was free on unsecured bail at the time of the latest incident.

Moreck is scheduled to be arraigned in Susquehanna County Court on Aug. 14 on the July 31 corruption charge.

A bail revocation hearing was held on Monday, Aug. 6 in front of President Judge Kenneth Seamans. Bail on the indecent exposure counts was changed to $20,000.
