Hometown Days parade “Judges Trophy” was awarded this year to a 1902 Oldsmobile driven by Kerry Barlow and accompanied by Kelly Kane.

Eugene Delsandro, a longtime member of the Susquehanna Fire Department, presently serving as Fire Marshall, had the honor of being the 2012 Grand Marshall for the Susquehanna Community Development Association parade.
The parade, held on Friday, July 20, left the Susquehanna Community Elementary School and paraded down Broad Avenue and up Main Streeet to the Fire Company/Borough Building.
At this location there was a carnival with a block party featuring churches, school groups and local organizations offering games, raffles and loads of good food.
The judges selected a 1902 Oldsmobile, with Kelly Kane and Kerry Barlow dressed in period costume, for the Judges Trophy.
Eugene Delsandro served as Grand Marshall for Susquehanna’s Hometown Days parade on July 20. A large crowd greeted the parade participants as they marched from the Elementary School to the Borough Building.
Other parade winners were: Pack 81 Cub Scouts and St. John’s Pro-Life took first and second place for floats; Zumba group received first place for walking groups; Bag Pipe Band and Legion Riders took first place in their category.
Others recognized were First Baptist Church, Troop 81 Boy Scouts of America; 4-H Clubs of Susquehanna County; Susquehanna Fire Department Auxiliary and Friends of Susquehanna County.
The usual amount of emergency equipment that arrives for any county parade was evident for this one. Trophies were awarded to: Clifford Fire Company (longest distance); Deposit, NY (oldest); Harford (best appearing truck); Barnes Kasson Hospital (ambulance); Union Dale (brush truck).
Thursday night of Hometown Days was designated as Family Night and featured an Idol Contest for young people ages 6-19 with three prizes awarded. The prizes were awarded to Kailyee Towner (ages 6-10); Kayleigh Smith ( agres 11-14) and Becca (ages 15-19).
Cub Scouts, Pack 81 Susquehanna are shown with their leaders Clarke Collins, Diane Sabatelli and Shannon Martin. This float took first place trophy.
Friday was Duck Derby Day, with proceeds going to Special Olympics. The winers: Don Redding from Mechanicsburg, NEP Telephone, Forest City; the law firm of Cappelli
& Mustin of Conshohocken; all donated their winnings to Miles Crawford. Crawford is a local child who has undergone brain surgery and has special needs at the present time.
The 3-day celebration ended with a spectacular fireworks display donated by Ron and Carol Dubas of Schneider’s Market.
