Woman sues driller over father’s death

AColoradowoman is suing Cabot Oil & Gas Corp. and three other companies after her father was killed while working on a gas rig platform in Dimock Twp.

Cherie Leatherman,469 Meadow Road,Grand Junction,Colo., is also suing Pioneer Drilling Services Ltd., Pioneer Drilling Inc. and Dean’s Casting Services, according to a lawsuit filed in the Court of Common Pleas of Philadelphia County on April 23.

Gregory Walker, 41, a Caliber Oil Field Services employee, was “catastrophically injured” when he was struck in the head attempting to rotate a casing pipe May 10, 2010, according to the lawsuit.

Walker’s death was caused by carelessness, negligence and reckless disregard by the defendants, according to the lawsuit.

The suit claims the four companies had a duty to inspect, supervise and control all of the work site or the work performed at the site of the incident, Depaloa Farms, according to court documents.

All four defendants are being sued for negligence, with the plaintiff seeking compensatory and punitive damages in excess of $50,000 from each company. The defendants also face wrongful death and survival action claims and damages in excess of $50,000 respectively, according to the lawsuit.
