The Montrose Area boys’ basketball team topped Towanda on the road on Friday night, 56-50 in a non-league matchup.

Tom Lewis scored 21 points and Colby Major chipped in with 14 as Montrose held on to win.

The Meteors got off to an early lead pacing the Knights 12-9 in the first and 11-10 in the second to hold a 23-19 lead at the half.

After the break, the Meteors paced Towanda 13-10 in the third and 20-18 in the fourth to take the win.

Cory Adams added six for the Meteors who are now 2-1 on the season.

Elk Lake

ElkLake’s boys’ basketball team faced a 50-40 loss at home to Tunkhannock on Saturday after the team picked up its first win of the season with a 64-21 drubbing ofNortheast Bradfordon the road on Tuesday evening.

Facing Tunkhannock, first quarter action saw the Tigers get out to a 13-8 lead overElkLake, before the Warriors would outscore them 8-7 in the second to see a 20-16 Tiger lead at halftime.

In the second half, the Tigers came back onto the court to pace the Warriors 16-7 in the third beforeElkLakewould make a 17-14 run at the Tigers in the fourth.

ElkLakewas led by Rob Heft with 14 points and seven rebounds while Tyler Arnold added 12 points, seven steals and four rebounds for the Warriors. Tanner Reyan added eight points.

On Tuesday, in the first quarter, the Warriors paced NE Bradford 21-9 before gaining a 37-11 lead by halftime with a 16-2 run in the second.

After halftime,ElkLakeoutscored the team 22-8 in the third quarter before capping off a victory with a 5-2 fourth.

Heft scored a game-high 20 points forElkLakewhile Arnold and Pete McAGee each had nine points and Matt Cuomo had eight. Matt Woolcock and Jason Vermeulen each chipped in with six while Nick Dudock dropped in five points.

Blue Ridge

The Blue Ridge Raiders faced their first loss of the season on Friday night as they were defeated 61-54 at Honesdale in a non-league matchup.

Blue Ridgefell behind early as the Hornets topped them 17-8 in the first quarter, and then paced the Raiders 18-11 in the second to hold a 35-19 lead at halftime.

In the third quarter, Honesdale toppedBlue Ridge14-13, and despite a 22-12 run by the Raiders in the fourth, they took the loss.

Mountain View

Mountain View’s boys’ basketball team faced a 51-28 loss from Old Forge at home on Friday and a 64-44 loss to Honesdale at home on Thursday night after the team grabbed a 60-56 victory over Susquehanna on the road on Tuesday evening.

On Friday, The Eagles were paced 10-2 in the first and 12-9 in the second to fall to a 22-11 deficit by halftime.

In the second half, the Blue Devils outscoredMountain View13-10 in the third and 16-7 in the fourth to take the win.

Mountain Viewwas led by Jon Chipelo with six while Nate Goodenough, David Lukens and Dylan Bradley each had five.

Against Honesdale, The Eagles fell to an early deficit as the Hornets outscored them 17-6 in the first quarter and 14-10 in the second to hold 31-16 lead at the half.

In the second half, Honesdale pacedMountain View19-14 in the fourth and each team scored 14 in the fourth as the Hornets ran away with the win.

Mountain Viewwas led by Joel Madas with 18 points while Lukens scored six and Goodenough grabbed five points.

On Tuesday, Susquehanna paced the Eagles 15-7 in the first quarter and held a 30-24 lead going into halftime.

After the half, Susquehanna increased its lead to 46-36 after the third quarter, but a 24-10 run fromMountain Viewproved to be enough to upend the Sabers.

Mountain View’s Lukens hit a three-pointer with 15 seconds remaining to putMountain Viewup for good.

Madas led the Eagles with 23 points while Jon Chipelo added 11.

Andrzej Tomczyk had a game-high 32 points for Susquehanna while Dan Biegert added 11 and Brandon Soden chipped in six.

Susquehanna

The Susquehanna boys’ basketball team took a 62-46 win at home on Friday night againstWestern Waynebut was handed a 67-26 loss from Mid Valley on the road on Wednesday evening.

AgainstWestern Wayne, the Sabers got ahead to an early lead with a 13-5 run in the first quarter, and held a 33-19 by halftime.

After the break, Susquehanna was outscored 13-10 by the Wildcats but capped the win with a 19-14 run in the fourth quarter.

Andrzej Tomczyk paced the Sabers with 27 points including three three-pointers while Mark Zappe added 12 points and Austin Cowperthwait and Dan Biegart each added nine.

On Wednesday, The Sabers fell behind 18-6 after the first quarter and were at a 41-11 deficit at halftime.

After the break the Spartans continued to dominate the Sabers with a 15-9 run in the third and capped off the win by outscoring Susquehanna 11-6 in the fourth.

Susquehanna was led by Cowperthwait and Brandon Soden, who each scored six for the Sabers.

Forest City

ForestCity’s boys’ basketball team was handed a 63-28 loss fromNorth Poconoon Thursday evening on the road.

The Foresters fell behind early as the Trojans outscored them 24-8 in the first quarter and at the halfForestCitytrailed 41-13.
