Foresters hold off Blue Ridge

The Forest City boys’ soccer team held offBlue Ridge, 2-1, inNew Milfordon Wednesday, to remain unbeaten on the season.

Forester Wayde Loomis got scoring started in the first half with an assist from Brian Nebzydoski at16:16.

Jake Fedak then chipped in with a goal off an assist from David Cavalieri at18:09to give the Foresters a 2-0 advantage at the half.

Blue Ridgestruck with a goal from Wes Ward with an assist from Luke Falletta at 63:03, but were unable to mount a comeback against the Foresters.

Forest City had 14 shots on goal and four corners while Blue Ridge notched 12 shots on goal and five corners.

ForestCitygoalie Zach Sosnowski had nine saves on the day whileBlue Ridgekeeper Tama Galu-Edgar had 10.

The Foresters also took a victory over Old Forge on Thursday at home, 4-2.

Loomis scored four goals to lead the Foresters to the victory as they had 24 shots on goal and seven corners. Sosnowski had four saves on goal.

The Blue Ridge boys’ soccer team picked up its first win of the season with a 3-1 triumph over Riverside on the road on Thursday.

Wes Ward had a hat trick to leadBlue Ridgeto the victory and improve the team’s record to 1-8-1 on the season.

Montrose

The Montrose Area boys’ soccer team took a 5-1 win atWestern Wayneon Saturday, a 1-0 win at St. Gregory’s on Thursday and a 3-2 victory overWestern Waynein a home game on Tuesday evening.

Nicolas Henry, Zach Myer, Troy Ely and Brandon Russell to overtake the Wildcats for the second time in less than a week.

The Meteors took 10 shots on goal with six corners while goalie Justin Hartman had seven saves.

Against St. Gregory’s Matt Lewis scored early in the first half at8:54and the Meteor defense held off St. Gregory’s to take the win.

Hartman made six saves in the shutout as the Meteors took nine shots on goal and had three corner kicks.

On Tuesday, Lewis got scoring started for the Meteors at 14 minutes in the first half, beforeWestern Waynewould score a pair of first half goals to put the Meteors at a 2-1 deficit at the half.

However, Lewis scored a second half goal at 70:41 and another at 83:45 in overtime to record the win and a hat trick for Montrose.

Montrose had 21 shots on corner and four corner kicks while Hartman recorded eight saves for the Meteors.

Mountain View

The Mountain Viewboys’ soccer team faced a 4-1 loss toAbingtonHeightsat home on Thursday after it grabbed an 11-0 shutout victory fromScrantonin a home game on Tuesday.

Against Abington, the Comets came out to score one first half goal to putMountain Viewat a deficit going into halftime.

After the break, Abington scored a second goal beforeMountain View’s Zeb Cross would find the net with an assist from Jon Chipelo at 51:51.

However, a pair of unanswered goals from the Comets helped lead Abington to the victory over the Eagles.

Mountain Viewhad 14 shots on goal and nine corners while goalie Nathan Moyer had nine saves on the day.

On Tuesday, Colby Thomas scored four goals and Z. Cross had six assists to lead the Eagles in the win.

Also scoring goals were Joe Jarrow with two and Gary Smith, Izzy Cross, Dylan Thomas, Colin Davis and Mike Lamberson with one apiece.

Mountain Viewtook 34 shots on goal and had four corners while goalies Moyer and Bobie Pfahl combined for no saves in the shutout win.

Elk Lake

ElkLake’s boys’ soccer team faced a 4-3 loss at home against Valley View on Friday after it picked up a 1-0 victory in a game atWest Scrantonon Tuesday.

FacingValleyView, Matt Cuomo tied the game at 2-2 in the second half before Valley View’s Brandon Jackson scored a pair of goals to help the Cougars take the win.

Adding goals for the Warriors were Cody Franssen and Dan Noldy.ElkLakehad 12 shots on goal and five corners while goalie Nick Dudock had 10 saves.

On Tuesday, Fransen scored with an assist from Alex Manzek at 74:24 in the second half to propel the Warriors to the shutout win.

ElkLakehad 14 shots on goal and three corners in the win while Dudock racked up 22 saves.
