The Elk Lake field hockey team took a 1-0 victory over Montrose Area on the road on Thursday afternoon.

Thursday’s contest was a defensive battle as neither team scored throughout the first half.

However, Elk Lake wore down the Montrose defense with 9:15 remaining in the second half as CJ Bevan scored a goal off an assist from Dylan Simmons to put the Warriors up 1-0.

Elk Lake took 17 shots on goal and had 14 penalty corners while goalie Luke Meyers had one save. Montrose had one shot on goal and one corner while goalie Taylor Wright had 13 saves on goal.
