{"id":480,"date":"2010-09-22T16:28:35","date_gmt":"2010-09-22T16:28:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/independentweekender.com\/?p=480"},"modified":"2010-09-22T16:28:35","modified_gmt":"2010-09-22T16:28:35","slug":"montrose-overrun-by-western-wayne","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.greenstreetdata.com\/PS\/2010\/09\/22\/montrose-overrun-by-western-wayne\/","title":{"rendered":"Montrose overrun by Western Wayne"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>BY <\/strong><strong>DAVE<\/strong><strong> LAURIHA<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Times-Shamrock Writer<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Having met its coach&#8217;s expectation of playing tough football in the first half Friday, Western Wayne needed a little bit of spark in the second half.<\/p>\n<p>Sophomore Robbie Siclari provided two big jolts in the first four minutes after halftime, returning a punt 64 yards for a touchdown, then stripping a Montrose back of the ball and returning the fumble 35 yards for another score 13 seconds later.<\/p>\n<p>The touchdowns propelled the Wildcats to a 36-6 win over Montrose at Ambrose Mullen Memorial Stadium in a nonleague battle of winless teams.<\/p>\n<p>The Meteors committed seven penalties and turned the ball over five times, and a punt return really hurt.<\/p>\n<p>But Montrose (0-3) started to gather a little momentum late in the first half, allowing the Wildcats to run just four plays over the final 10 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;No excuses.
