Millage rates set for Susquehanna and Wyoming County residents in themElk Lake School District preliminary budget was incorrectly reported in a recent article appearing in the Susquehanna County Independent.<\/p>\n

At the May 26 meeting, a proposed preliminary budget was unveiled formthe 2016-17 school year in the amount of $20,666,241.66 that includes a tax increase for local property owners.<\/p>\n

The article, \u201cTaxes up as EL taps into reserve\u201d in the May 25 edition of the Independent reported that according to the proposed budget, taxes will increase from 39.32 to 40.23 mills in Wyoming County, and from 46.76 to 49.77 mills in Susquehanna County.<\/p>\n

Those figures were reversed. At last week\u2019s Elk Lake School Board meeting, Superintendent Ken Cuomo clarified millage rates, stating the new rate for Susquehanna County property owners would be 40.43 (up from 39.32); and in Wyoming County taxpayers would pay 49.77 mills (up from 48.22).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
