The Mountain View School Board voted to approve a $21,031,250 final budget as proposed at Monday night’s meeting.
\n“Expenses do exceed revenue, which is $19,304,399,” said business manager Tom Witiak. “We will need to use part of the $2.8 million fund balance as of July 1. This is probably the last time we can dip into a fund balance.”<\/p>\n

He noted that last year’s budget was for $20.9 million, and expenditures for the year to date are $17.2 million, with $1.6 million in remaining salaries, lump sums, and accruals. “We should be under
\nbudget for the 2015-16 school year,” he concluded.<\/p>\n

Former Mountain View superintendent and board member Andrew Chichura asked if the tax increase would be above or below the state index, and what the total millage would be.<\/p>\n

Millage was set at 39.2112. The tax increase will total about 4 percent.<\/p>\n

The board approved a motion to use the “old standard” to remain
\ncompliant with UGG Procurement Policy for the 2015-16 and 2016-17
\nschool years.<\/p>\n

A letter of resignation was accepted from Brittany Wilkins from her business office clerical position effective May 20. The board authorized advertising a 260 day secretary position for the business office.<\/p>\n

The board approved policy 213, assessment of student progress, as presented. The board also approved policy 823, Naloxon, which concerns the use of an opiate antidote.<\/p>\n
