The New Milford Borough Council and Planning Commission will hold a public meeting on Wednesday, May 11, 6:30 p.m., at the Borough Building, 948 Main St, to discuss the draft New Milford Borough Comprehensive Plan.<\/p>\n
The Planning Commission has been meeting regularly to compile the Plan with the assistance of Community Planning and Management, LLC, of Paupack.
\nThe Comprehensive Plan was undertaken to:<\/p>\n
1) identify and inventory the changes which have taken place in the Borough over the last 10 or 15 years;<\/p>\n
2) address key growth and development issues;<\/p>\n
3) establish a framework for sustainable growth and development while concurrently providing for the conservation of small town community character,
\nresidential neighborhoods, open land, and the environment;<\/p>\n
4) promote well designed residential and commercial development by providing the foundation for updated land use management tools, principally the zoning ordinance and the subdivision and land development ordinance;<\/p>\n
5) organize for the most efficient administration of local government and the delivery of community facilities and services; and,<\/p>\n
6) achieve consistency with the Susquehanna County Comprehensive Plan.<\/p>\n
The Plan includes goals and objectives and actions related to community facilities and services, streets and sidewalks, business development, land use, housing, natural resources and land use management.<\/p>\n
The Borough obtained a grant from the PA Department of Community and Economic Development to pay for half the comprehensive plan.<\/p>\n
The Borough is seeking participation from as many residents and business owners as possible and all are encouraged to attend.<\/p>\n
A copy of the Plan is available for review during regular business hours at the Borough office, the Pratt Memorial Library and the Susquehanna County Planning Department.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
