Apple was the favored flavor in the adult division at the annual Ag Day Pie Contest. Aside from a scoop of vanilla ice cream, there\u2019s just no topping Jeralyn Adams\u2019 traditional apple pie.<\/p>\n

In addition to Adams\u2019 PA Farm Show winning entry, Sally Button\u2019s apple crumb also took home a top award.<\/p>\n

In the children\u2019s division, two of the four top pies were of the Peanut Butter variety entered by Kaelynn Brandt and Kyle Bonavita. Autumn Bonavita\u2019s Lemon Raspberry and Austin Bonavita\u2019s Banana Split pie, also took home top honors.<\/p>\n

Although deemed the tastiest by the judges, none of the prize-winning pies commanded the top bid of $220 from All County Livestock. That went to a Colossal Coconut made by 4-Her Alex Empet, of Kingsley, in the kids\u2019 contest.<\/p>\n

An Old Fashion Sawdust Pie raised eyebrows, as well as bids \u2013 especially from TA Seeds\u2019 Dave Huffman.<\/p>\n

He said he had never had a \u2018sawdust pie\u2019 before but he had bought pies made by Robin Campbell in years past.<\/p>\n

\u201cAny pie she\u2019s made has been unbelievable,\u201d Huffman said.<\/p>\n

A total of $4,640 was raised as 35 pies were auctioned off. Proceeds from the pie auction benefit both Susquehanna County 4-H and the Susquehanna County Dairy Princess Promotions program.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
