The Salary Board eliminated the county\u2019s Director of Human Resources position at the Wednesday, Dec. 9 meeting. That director title was first added to the county payroll in May 2014.<\/p>\n

Richard Ely, who held the director position until it was dissolved by the board last week, stepped into a different position created by the board on Wednesday- Director of Veterans\u2019 Affairs\/ Human Resources Support, at a salary of $45,000.<\/p>\n

Commissioner Michael Giangrieco cast the lone vote against approving Ely for the newly created position during the commissioners meeting.<\/p>\n

Also in the Veterans\u2019 Affairs department, the Secretary of Veterans Affairs post was eliminated, with the board creating a Veterans Affairs\/Support Clerk position in its place, at a starting salary of $11.48 per hour.<\/p>\n

The salary board also voted to eliminate the position of Records Clerk, effective Jan. 4, 2016; and in its place created a full-time, union position of Historical Records Clerk\/ County Receptionist, which comes with a starting pay of $10.85 per hour.<\/p>\n

A Systems Manager\/Database Analyst position was created in the Department of Public Safety, with a starting salary of $15.23.<\/p>\n

The newly created position replaces the 911 Systems Manager Database Analyst post the board voted at the Nov. 25 meeting to eliminate no later than Jan. 1, 2016.<\/p>\n

In personnel matters handled in the commissioners\u2019 meeting, the following were approved:<\/p>\n

*accept and ratify the resignation of Sheri Minarsky from Military Affairs, effective Dec. 2;
\n*acknowledge the termination of Lawrence Hardy II for Voter Registration, effective Dec. 9;
\n*approve Cynthia Rogers to a full-time Corrections Officer position, effective Dec. 7;
\n*acknowledge the transfer of Darlene Sheridan from 2nd Deputy Register & Recorder to 1st Deputy Register of Wills and Clerk of the Orphan\u2019s Court, effective Jan. 4;
\n*acknowledge the transfer of Sharon Whitney from Records Clerk to 1st Deputy Recorder of Deeds.
\nNancy Harvatine and Harry Phillips were reappointed to serve on the Susquehanna County Planning Commission for a three year term, Jan. 1-2016 \u2013 Dec. 31, 2019.
\nThe resignation of Peter Janicelli from the Planning Commission, effective Dec. 9, was accepted, with regret.
\nThe commissioners approved two percent salary increases for all non-union, non-elected employees for 2016.
\nA new multi-material baling system was approved for purchase at the recycling center. Hall said 80 to 90 percent of the $131,250 price will be paid with grant funds.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
