After four seasons the Montrose Area School District is dissolving their football co-operative agreement with the Elk Lake School District.<\/p>\n

Superintendent Carol Boyce announced at the regular school board meeting on Dec. 1 that due to the PIAA reorganization the decision to dissolve the co-op with Elk Lake made sense in order to maintain the district\u2019s status as an AA team, rather than entering into the AAA division.<\/p>\n

The board gave its unanimous approval to the end the agreement.<\/p>\n

Players from Elk Lake who are currently on the roster will still be permitted to play for the remainder of their high school career, but starting with the 2016 season, no new Elk Lake players will be permitted to join the Meteor squad.<\/p>\n

When asked whether this would affect the school\u2019s co-op with the Elk Lake swim team, Boyce said that co-op would still stand as it is not affected by any reorganization criteria at this time.<\/p>\n

High School principal Bill King announced that to mark Super Bowl 50, the NFL is recognizing all past Super Bowl players by presenting their high schools with a golden football. Montrose Alumni and Superbowl champion Chris Snee will return to MAHS to present the football for the NFL\u2019s High School Honor Roll on Dec. 17.<\/p>\n

In other business, Superintendent Carol Boyce announced that the Montrose Area School District will not be raising taxes above the PDE set index for the 2016-2017 school year.<\/p>\n

Elise Kurz was appointed as Drama Club advisor effective immediately for the 2015-2016 school year at a stipend of $1,200.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
