Division II:<\/p>\n

ON THE RISE: It\u2019s been a struggle at Montrose the last few seasons, but this year the Meteors might have one of the more dynamic players in the division.<\/p>\n

A transfer from Coughlin, Derek Nunez is a student at Elk Lake (which co-sponsors football at Montrose) and will be a jolt of energy for the Meteors. He has good size and speed, and is coming off a season in which he was recognized as one of the top linebackers in the Wyoming Valley Conference after racking up 10 sacks and more than 100 tackles.<\/p>\n

He will also give the team a breakaway runner who should excel in space in coach Lou Cella\u2019s triple-option attack.<\/p>\n

Coaches\u2019 picks place Montrose at the bottom of the division in sixth.<\/p>\n

The Division III Team that could surprise: Susquehanna<\/p>\n

How could a team that reached the District 2 Class A title last season be a surprise?<\/p>\n

Well, it\u2019s simple. The Sabers lost their all-everything quarterback Austin White and a dominant defensive player in Christian Miller to graduation.<\/p>\n

That being said, Susquehanna is building a reputation of being a tenacious defensive football team. That unit has a couple of standout players returning, including Evan Aldrich, who is an impact-type kid.<\/p>\n

With that, if the offense develops, the Sabers could be a contender for the playoffs, again.<\/p>\n
