\"Repairs<\/a>

Repairs to the Ionic columns on the Greek-Revival Susquehanna County Courthouse continue. Capitols on the columns were in poor condition, and in need of replacement. Casts will be made of a column top then all of the capitols will be replaced and the columns painted. The Courthouse Complex was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1996. County personnel actions dominated the commissioners\u2019 agenda, Wednesday, Aug. 16.<\/p>\n

Jeanne Conklin was hired as the human resources clerk in the commissioners\u2019 office, effective Aug. 3.<\/p>\n

The resignation of Molly Edwards from the county human resources department was accepted, effective July 29.<\/p>\n

Amy Bishop transferred from her position as the 1st Deputy Clerk of Courts to the position of Jury Manager, effective Aug. 18; and Courtney Canfield also left the prothonotary\u2019s office to take the position of Intake Officer in Domestic Relations, effective Aug. 17.<\/p>\n

Sandy Henry will move from the 2nd Deputy Clerk of Courts to take the 1st Deputy position.<\/p>\n

Elizabeth Speicher\u2019s resignation from the law clerk position was also accepted, effective Aug. 7.<\/p>\n

Cheyanne Daniels transferred from a part-time to full-time custodial position.<\/p>\n

There were also several appointments at the county jail.<\/p>\n

Steven Vandermark and Emily Gow moved from jobs as corrections officers to sergeant positions.<\/p>\n

James Gething, Pamela Larrabee, and Ashley Corbin were hired as part-time corrections officers; and the commissioners accepted, with regret, the resignation of Christa Merritt, from the jail, effective Aug. 1.<\/p>\n

In other business, the Tax Claim Bureau was exonerated from collecting delinquent taxes on several parcels:<\/p>\n

*A parcel in Friendsville Borough where the school taxes had been returned to the county by the tax collector in error. The owners presented proof of payment.<\/p>\n

*A parcel in Apolacon Twp. consisting of a trailer. Assessment had exonerated the trailer as gone. The total amount exonerated from collection was $1,419.73 from 2012-2014.<\/p>\n

*A parcel in Great Bend Twp. consisting of a trailer. Assessment had exonerated the trailer on July 21 as non-livable.<\/p>\n

*A Bridgewater Twp. parcel consisting of a trailer which had been exonerated by Assessment July 27 as gone.<\/p>\n

The commissioners used Act 13 funds for the purchase of a 2016 Utility Police Interceptor Base AWD, for the sheriff\u2019s department at a cost of $32,191.
\nTwo Caterpillar skid steers were purchase for the recycling center.<\/p>\n

The purchase of five new buses and two MV1 vehicles for Trehab-Susquehanna-Wyoming County Transportation was approved. The total cost of $345,704 is fully reimbursable from the state Dept. of Transportation.<\/p>\n

The commissioners adopted a resolution to authorize Susquehanna County Housing and Redevelopment to file a proposal to receive Pennsylvania Housing Affordability and Rehabilitation Enhancement (PHARE) funds.<\/p>\n

The funding, if approved, would be used to construct a six-unit, ranch style duplexes in New Milford, near the Creekside Apartments.<\/p>\n

The county also adopted a resolution authorizing the Trehab to file for PHARE funding for the home ownership program and the rental assistance program.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
