The 158th Harford Fair official opened on Monday, Aug. 17. The agricultural fair continued through Saturday night with featured entertainment, demonstrations, and nightly Main Arena events. STAFF PHOTO\/STACI WILSON<\/p><\/div>\n

The 158th Harford Fair kicked off this week with all the familiar fair favorites \u2013 animals, food, rides, vendors and attractions.<\/p>\n

At opening ceremonies, held Sunday, Aug. 16, Harford Agricultural Society presented Nancy Marr with the award for Outstanding Fair Ambassador for her longtime involvement with the fair working in the Mountain View fruit and lemonade stand and also at the gate, greeting fairgoers as they enter the grounds.<\/p>\n

The fair moved into action on Monday morning, with attractions opening to the crowds.<\/p>\n

Prize-winning baked goods were offered up to the highest bidder in the shade pavilion; and the Queen contest ruled the evening events.<\/p>\n

Rachel Johnson, 18, of Factoryville, was crowned as the 2015 Harford Fair Queen; and Samantha Sebring was selected as the runner-up.<\/p>\n

Truck pulls took center stage in the main arena Monday evening.<\/p>\n

Other Main Arena events for the week include: Wednesday \u2013 truck pulls; Thursday \u2013 An Evening with Trace Adkins; Friday \u2013 Dave Marten\u2019s Championship Rodeo; and Saturday \u2013 Jackpot Demolition Derby.<\/p>\n

Entertainment is also on tap throughout the week in the Shade Pavilion; and Aussie Kingdom, a traveling Australian animal state show, will perform three times daily in the North Arena.<\/p>\n

Houghton Enterprise Amusements returns to the fair with rides on the expanded Midway.<\/p>\n

Livestock shows, contests and award-winning entries are also featured at the fair.<\/p>\n

\"Truck<\/a>

Truck pulls kicked off Main Arena events Monday. Truck pulls return Wednesday evening. On Thursday, Trace Adkins take the stage; and the week caps off with rodeo action on Friday and the demolition derby on Saturday.<\/p><\/div>\n

At the opening ceremonies, the Harford Agricultural Society also recognized members who had died in the past year, including Charlotte Squier and Phil Titus, who had each served as superintendent of Floral Hall; Frank Ridgeway, who worked along with his wide, Phyllis, when she served as the secretary; and Ken Adams. who also served as the president of the Pennsylvania State Association of County Fairs in 1999. He was honored by the Harford Fair in 2011 for his lifetime commitment and involvement with the fair.<\/p>\n

The 158th Harford Fair runs through Saturday, Aug. 22; admission is $6 for adults; children under 12 are free. Visit<\/p>\n
