A New Milford-based day care center is looking to open a second site in Montrose.<\/p>\n

Jolene Conigliaro, of Endless Mountains Learning Center, told the Montrose Borough Council on Monday, July 6, that the center is interested in leasing a space in the Tannery Place on South Main Street that would accommodate up to 50 children.<\/p>\n

Conigliaro told council members that EMLC carries a Keystone STAR 4 rating, the highest level. Keystone STARS standards are set by the state to quality learning environments for children.<\/p>\n

With outdoor space at the proposed Montrose site limited, Conigliaro said she plans to include a large indoor play area in the proposed site.<\/p>\n

The multi-commercial development received a conditional use from the borough, but a provision to allow for a day care center as one of those potential uses was not listed.<\/p>\n

Borough council will hold a hearing to allow for the addition of a learning center at its August 3 meeting.<\/p>\n

Councilmen Sean Granahan said, \u201cNone of use have an objection to what you\u2019re doing. We just need to make sure we do it right.\u201d<\/p>\n

The municipal parking lot adjacent to the Tannery Place was also discussed by council.<\/p>\n

Tannery Place owner, Joe Hunt, plans to pave the parking area on his property; the borough is looking into paving the municipal lot at the same time.<\/p>\n

Council approved advertising bids for the paving project, but have not yet decided if they will move forward with the project this year.<\/p>\n

A striping plan would provide for 100 parking spaces in the municipal lot.<\/p>\n

Council approved a salary for Montrose Municipal Authority members in the amount of $50 per month.<\/p>\n

Borough-owned property was also discussed. Steps in the upper municipal parking lot are in rough shape but council members were uncertain as to whether or not those were owned by the borough or the county. The solicitor will be asked to look up the deed for the parking lot area in question.<\/p>\n

It was also brought to council\u2019s attention that the county did not fill out the paperwork required for work trucks to block the parking meters while the sidewalks on the Green side of Maple Street were being replaced.<\/p>\n

Council is also submitting an offer to PS Bank in Wyalusing in the amount of $60,000 for the triangle shaped property located near the borough building.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
