Susquehanna Community is one of the last schools in America to have the word \u201ccommunity\u201d in its name, Saber 2015 Salutatorian and Class President Ivy Christensen told the audience during her remarks at the high school commencement exercises held Saturday, June 13.<\/p>\n

Noting differences, talents and abilities within the graduating class of 57, Christensen said the group had demonstrated a sense of community during their time at the school. The community has pushed us to achieve our dreams.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSometimes small schools get a bad rap,\u201d she said then went on to present \u201cthe other side of the story.\u201d<\/p>\n

Christensen said that in a small school, teachers become both friends and mentors; and new students are welcomed and free to express themselves.<\/p>\n

From elementary 100th day projects to a day off for the first day of deer season and a cryptic abbreviation on the door to a room in the school, \u201cthey are memories that can only happen here in Susquehanna,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Valedictorian Clayton Hansen has experienced the sense of community in Susquehanna. He came to the district four years ago. \u201cI\u2019ve learned to love all of you,\u201d he said to his classmates. \u201cI\u2019ve grown to see you not only as friends, but as family. That\u2019s what\u2019s remarkable about this school.\u201d
