BRODY BUSHNELL<\/p><\/div>\n

At 6\u20191\u201d tall, Brody Bushnell\u2019s height gives him a jumping and blocking advantage on the volleyball court.<\/p>\n

Bushnell is the Independent\u2019s Student Athlete of the Week.<\/p>\n

The Elk Lake senior has been playing volleyball for the past four years. He was influenced by his brother to give the game a try.<\/p>\n

\u201cI started playing because my brother played and I thought it looked like a fun sport,\u201d Bushnell said. \u201cI like how intense and fun of a sport it is even though it’s a non-contact sport.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Warriors have already improved on the previous season\u2019s record. \u201cLast year we didn’t have a very good season we had a record of 0-14, but this season started off good for us,\u201d he said. \u201cWe won our first game, so I’d say we are off to a good start.\u201d<\/p>\n

In addition to volleyball, Bushnell is also in the Ski Club and Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA). He also advanced to States in the SkillsUSA Quizbowl, a contest that tests a team\u2019s knowledge of general academics, professional development, and current events.<\/p>\n

The auto enthusiast plans to use that interest in his career. He plans to attend the Pennsylvania College of Technology to major in automotive sales and service management.<\/p>\n
