\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

On a shot from 40 yards out, Montrose\u2019s Kourtney Snigar scored the only goal in the game that snapped the Lady Eagles 43-game unbeaten streak in a Lackawanna League Division III game on Wednesday. The win came the day after the Meteor boys claimed a win over Mountain View.<\/p>\n

The Mountain View girls came with a 7-0 record in the current season. The Lady Meteors at 4-2 suffered losses to Lakeland and Forest City earlier in the season.<\/p>\n

Snigar\u2019s unassisted goal came at 24:41, unassisted.<\/p>\n

Team manager Maddy Pasteka said, \u201cIt was an amazing shot. She hit it from so far out and it just arched perfectly over everyone and their goalie\u2019s head.\u201d<\/p>\n

Snigar who had been sidelined by an injury for several games said, \u201cWe played well and worked well as a team. It felt great. It was my first goal of the season.\u201d<\/p>\n

On the defensive side of the game, Montrose goalie Anna Churco shined against the aggressive shooting from the Lady Eagles. Churco was perfect with 13 saves.<\/p>\n

Coach John Cherundolo said, \u201cAnna Churco is unbelievable. That\u2019s why she was last year\u2019s All-Regional goalie. She had some amazing saves.\u201d<\/p>\n

Offensively, the Lady Meteors only had three shots against Mt. View goalie, Hannah Phillips, who had two saves.<\/p>\n

The one shot by Snigar was enough to earn the victory for the Lady Meteors who were the last league team to beat Mountain View 43 games ago.<\/p>\n

Montrose senior Hannah Dieck said, \u201cI\u2019m so proud. It\u2019s unbelievable. This is my best high school career game ever. We haven\u2019t beaten them (Mt. View) in the four years I have been playing.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHoly mackerel!\u201d said Cherundolo, \u201cThe girls played a great game; they played their hearts out.\u201d<\/p>\n

In other girls\u2019 soccer play last week:<\/p>\n

Elk Lake fell to Dunmore, 5-0. Warrior goalie Lydia Hunsinger had 14 saves.<\/p>\n

At Forest City, Madison McGraw and Mackenzie Hartman each scored two goals to pace the Lady Foresters in a 7-1 win over Carbondale Area.<\/p>\n

Kaitlyn Zembrzycki and Lauren Hall also scored for Forest City. Goalie Morgan Gaspar had two saves.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
