ANDREAS MITTMAN<\/p><\/div>\n

Montrose Area senior Andreas Mittman, a Montrose Area High School senior has been named the Susquehanna County Independent\u2019s \u201cStudent Athlete of the Week.\u201d<\/p>\n

A few years ago, Mittman suffered a serious injury from soccer that required surgery, so he turned his attention to golf \u2013 a game he began playing in junior program during the summer while he was in elementary school.<\/p>\n

He didn\u2019t spend a lot of time working on his game until last fall.<\/p>\n

There are several things Mittman appreciates about the sport. \u201cI can grow old playing it,\u201d he said. \u201cI like how anyone can play it; you don\u2019t need to be a certain kind of athlete to play it. All kinds of people of all ages play golf with many different swings. I also like the individual aspect of it within the team event; and that it is 75 percent in your head.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the spring, Mittman returns to baseball which he considers his \u201ctrue love.\u201d Last year he carried the highest batting average on the team at .444.<\/p>\n

He also participates in the Ski Club and says he likes working out when his sports aren\u2019t in season.<\/p>\n

When not in school or on a playing field, the Montrose senior holds down a job at Russelll Farms. \u201cI love my job with Russell Farms. I do all sorts of different work with great people that I enjoy, which keeps my job exciting.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mittman is the son of Frank and Anne Mittman of Franklin Twp. \u201cThey support me with everything I do and I give most of the credit for all of my accomplishments to them,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Mittman plan to attend Temple University in the fall of 2015 to study finance.<\/p>\n

He also offers advice to younger players. \u201cReally cherish these few years of organized, competitive sports and give it your best effort because I know that is what I will miss most about my high school career. It flies by.\u201d<\/p>\n
