Meyers\u2019 first touchdown was a 25-yard run along the left side of the field. Mark Robinson was practically untouched.<\/p>\n

Robinson followed that up with a touchdown run up the gut and then a 27-yard touchdown dash to the right side of the field.<\/p>\n

As if he had not done enough in the first half, his encore included a 70-yard interception returned for a touchdown and one final 60-yard touchdown run before he was removed from the game.<\/p>\n

Behind the strength of its running game, led by Robinson, Meyers on Friday handily defeated Montrose, 58-0.<\/p>\n

Toward the end of the second quarter, with the score already out of hand, Montrose got its best shot at scoring. The offense ran a play from the 3-yard line on fourth down, but the runner was stopped at the 1-yard line by linebacker Terry Eyerman, who earlier in the game had returned a fumble for a touchdown.<\/p>\n

Friday\u2019s game was the first for Montrose under the leadership of new head coach Lou Cella, who is implementing a triple-option offense this season.<\/p>\n

After the game, Cella said the offense has \u201ca long way to go.\u201d<\/p>\n

Montrose tallied more than 150 yards all from the run game.<\/p>\n

While the final score is less than encouraging for Cella\u2019s squad, Meyers Coach Correy Hanson said his defense in practice has been preparing for the option for weeks. Meyers will play another option offense in Susquehanna next week.<\/p>\n
