ESE Equity\u2019s Joe Hunt provided a tour Monday evening of the proposed Tannery Place project and updated Montrose Borough Council members on the progress.<\/p>\n

The proposed development of the former Montrose Publishing building on South Main St., Montrose, will likely house several companies within its walls when completed.<\/p>\n

Currently, Hunt told council members he had received the building permit approval to being Phase 1 of the project \u2013 the development of professional office space.<\/p>\n

For the remainder of this year, Hunt said he will be focusing on the development of the north half of the building.<\/p>\n

Outside of the building, a house and a barn located behind the structure have been razed \u2013 enabling Hunt to add the necessary handicap spaces. A back entryway will also be ADA accessible, he said.<\/p>\n

The council had scheduled a hearing for the Aug. 18 meeting regarding a conditional use permit for the building filed by Hunt. The date was scheduled after borough council failed to achieve a quorum when the matter first came before it in July.<\/p>\n

But the hearing on the conditional use application has been put off once again with the Montrose Borough Council again failing to achieve a quorum for the Aug. 18 meeting.<\/p>\n

Hunt said all of the proposed uses for the building are permitted in the commercial district but multiple occupants require the conditional use approval. However, Hunt has all of the necessary permits to proceed with development of Phase 1 of the project.<\/p>\n

The hearing is now slated to be held on Monday, Sept. 8, at 7 p.m.<\/p>\n

Council President Tom LaMont called for council to hold a meeting on Thursday night (Aug. 21) at 7 p.m.
