Charges against the Dallas man accused of intentional running over and killing Russell Fauver have been bound over for trial following a preliminary hearing held Monday in Montrose District Court.<\/p>\n

Paul Paci Jr., 22, was charged with criminal homicide following an altercation at a Bridgewater Twp. tavern that continued on the roadways and led to Fauver\u2019s death on July 2.<\/p>\n

Susuqehanna County Coroner Anthony Conarton said Fauver was pronounced dead at Endless Mountains Health Systems, Montrose, at about 3:30 a.m.<\/p>\n

An autopsy performed by Dr. Gary Ross, forensic pathologist, revealed Fauver had died of multiple traumatic injuries caused by being run over by a motor vehicle. The death had been ruled a homicide, Conarton told the court.<\/p>\n

Conarton said he did not have a final autopsy report yet but noted that Fauver sustained \u201ca lot of internal injuries and lacerations, including a significant laceration to his forehead and nose.<\/p>\n

Pennsylvania State Police Cpl. Michael Joyce took the stand. Joyce is the collision analyst and accident reconstructionist for PSP, Troop R. Joyce testified that he was called to the scene on Blaisure Rd., Jessup Twp., in the early morning hours of July 2.<\/p>\n

He said he observed glass and debris on the roadway, as well as a large amount of blood.
\nJoyce said that his investigation of the crash is still not complete.<\/p>\n

Tpr. Greg Deck, the lead investigator on the case, told the court he arrived at EMHS the morning of July 2 and met with the troopers that responded to the scene.<\/p>\n

Initially, Deck said that Timothy Sullivan reported that he had come across the crash scene and drove Fauver to the hospital. Further investigation, according to the trooper, revealed that Sullivan changed his story.<\/p>\n

Deck testified that Sullivan said he had received a call from Paci\u2019s girlfriend about a vehicle that was following them. When Paci arrived at the Sullivan residence, Fauver struck the back of Paci\u2019s vehicle with his, according to Deck, and the two men exchanged words.<\/p>\n

Deck said that, according to Sullivan, Paci took off after Fauver in his vehicle and upon his return to Sullivan\u2019s home said, \u201cI think I killed him.\u201d The trooper said Sullivan had reported that Paci had blood on him and he advised him to take a shower.<\/p>\n

Tpr. Craig Purdum also took the stand for the prosecution. Purdum, along with Tpr. Mark Murray of Dunmore interviewed Paci at the Wyoming Barracks in Luzerne County on July 2.<\/p>\n

Purdum said the troopers waited to conduct an interview until Paci received word from his mother regarding a lawyer.<\/p>\n

Purdum told the court that when that lawyer refused to handle the case, Paci considered contacting another attorney but then said, \u201cLet\u2019s just get this done.\u201d<\/p>\n

Purdum said Paci waived his Miranda before giving his statement admitting to his involvement in Fauver\u2019s death.<\/p>\n

Susquehanna County Assistant District Attorney Marion O\u2019Malley said in her summation the police investigation confirmed a collision between the two vehicles and that Fauver\u2019s body had been found in a pool of blood.<\/p>\n

She said the activity around the scene indicated more activity than an accidental hit and run and asked District Judge Jeffrey Hollister to bind the charges over for trial.<\/p>\n

Paci was represented by Attorney Jason Beardsley for the Public Defender\u2019s office. No witnesses were presented by the defense.<\/p>\n

Paci is being held without bail in the Susquehanna County Correctional Facility.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
