Elementary Principal Robert Keyes, who will be leaving that position after 31 years, was the guest speaker at Susquehanna Community High School graduation on Saturday, June 14.<\/p><\/div>\n

The 58 graduates of Susquehanna Community High School received their diplomas from a stage set up in the gym on Saturday morning, June 14, as a very wet Friday canceled plans for an outdoor ceremony.<\/p>\n

The 2014 commencement marked the 62 years since the consolidation of three high schools forming the Susquehanna Consolidated School District, now Susquehanna Community.<\/p>\n

Elementary Principal Robert Keyes delivered the commencement address reminding the class that through good times and sad times they have grown as people and formed a bond.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a very special opportunity for me as I have followed your progress from the time you first entered kindergarten,\u201d Keyes said. After 38 years in the Susquehanna Community School District, Keyes is retiring.<\/p>\n

Keyes took the graduates down memory lane and reminded them of a number of events that will long be remembered for the humor and an insight into what might be ahead. He reminded the class of the time Valedictorian Micaela Rhone went to classroom to do a survey and took command of the class even though she was only in first grade.<\/p>\n

Keyes encouraged the graduates to have a goal\/plan and also have a back-up plan. \u201cLike building a house, you need a plan to build a life,\u201d he said. He also advised the graduates to be ready for surprises, stay strong and true to themselves. He concluded by saying, \u201cwhat you learn here is just a bridge to the next phase of your life.\u201d<\/p>\n

Susquehanna Community Class of 2014 President Amber Dubanowitz delivered the welcoming remarks at commencement exercises held Saturday, June 14.<\/p><\/div>\n

Valedictorian Micaela Rhone reminded her fellow classmates that after 2340 days spent at Susquehanna Community it was time to thank people who have been part of their time spent there. Rhone started with parents and then continued to thank others who have been a part of the lives of the graduates.<\/p>\n

Memories play a big part of the high school experience and Rhone spoke of a few she said she hoped her classmates carry with them into the future.<\/p>\n

She advised her fellow classmates to be brave and not be afraid of new things. \u201cGet out there and experience all the world has to offer,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

High School Principal Mark Gerchman presented the Scholastic Awards and Superintendent Bronson Stone, School Board President Steven Stanford and Mr. Gerchman presented the diplomas.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
