Three buses of Mountain View Eagles arrived in Montrose on Monday, April 14, as three different events took place on the Montrose Area High School campus involving athletes from both schools. Varsity baseball, varsity softball, and a track meet took place at the same time giving fans from both schools plenty of action on the blustery afternoon.<\/p>\n

The Eagles baseball team came out swinging and taking an early four-run lead in the first inning against the Meteors. Mt. View\u2019s Sam Flannery was the first batter and got on base in an untraditional manner due to interference and stole second. Montrose pitcher, Will Ferrill, was able to strike out the next batter, Chris White, but then walked Colby Thomas.<\/p>\n

Matt Heller came to bat and hit a double after a full count face off with Ferrill earning RBI\u2019s for the runs scored by Flannery and Thomas. Noah Pepper also had a full count before hitting a double to bring home Heller. Pepper stole third and scored on a passed ball. Eddie Bognatz hit a single to get on base, but was unable to score as the Meteors secured the next two outs.<\/p>\n

The Meteor bats faced Mt. View Pitcher Chris White and in the first inning, only Matt Lewis was able to get a hit to get on base for Montrose, but was left stranded on second base when the inning ended with Mt. View up 4-0.
\nThe only other scoring done in the game was in the third inning when Thomas hit is a double for Mt. View and Heller, who was thrown out at first was able to earn the RBI when Thomas ran home. In the same inning Nick Henry hit a single and Ethan Stankiewicz reached first base due to a fielding error made by the pitcher, White. Kyle Watkins earned the RBI for Henry\u2019s run, but was thrown out at first base as was Lewis for the third out to end the inning with a score of Mt. View 5, Montrose 1.<\/p>\n

The rest of the game was a defensive battle with neither team allowing the other to score as well as some excellent pitching by both pitchers. White pitched all seven innings for the Eagles and had eight strike outs and no walks. Ferrill pitched 3 2\/3 innings with two strike outs and two walks for the Meteors. Chris Lee took over pitching duties for Montrose in the 4th inning and had two strike outs and one walk. The game ended with the Eagles earning a 5-1 victory over the Meteors.

\nSusquehanna, 4<\/strong>
\nAt Elk Lake, Blake Chew had two hits, including a double, and three RBIs to lead the Warriors to a Division IV win.
\nTanner Reyan had three hits, scored three runs and drove in two for the winners.<\/p>\n

Elk Lake, 7
\nForest City, 6<\/strong>
\nAt Elk Lake on Monday, Matt Domasiewicz singled in Pete McGee with the winning run in the ninth inning to give Elk Lake a Division IV win.
\nTanner Reyan had two hits, including a double, drove in a run and scored once for the Warriors.
\nDylan O\u2019Dell had two hits and two RBIs for Forest City.<\/p>\n

Montrose. 10
\nSusquehanna, 5<\/strong>
\nAt Montrose, Matt Lewis had two doubles and a triple and Matt Simonds homered to lead the Meteors to a win on Monday.
