\"Haleigh<\/a>

Haleigh Quigg, of Montrose, won the Giant Slalom event in February in the New England Prep School (NEPSAC) Class C Championships.<\/p><\/div>\n

For the second consecutive year, Haleigh Quigg, 18, of Montrose, won the Giant Slalom event in the New England Prep School (NEPSAC) Class C Championships. She is a senior at Miss Hall\u2019s School, Pittsfield, Mass.
\nQuigg also returned a second-place finish in the slalom.<\/p>\n

She regularly competed in Super G. Giant Slalom and Slalom. \u201cMy favorite event is the Giant Slalom. It has more speed then the slalom with bigger turns, but it is still very technical which I like, it keeps you on your toes the whole way down,\u201d Quigg said.<\/p>\n

The championships were held in Feb. 12 at Mt. Sunapee, N.H., with the Miss Hall\u2019s School Hurricanes finishing in second place behind Brewster Academy. Pingree School finished in third place.<\/p>\n

Quigg\u2019s first run in the giant slalom came in at 33.00; her second was 33.56 \u2013 for a total of 66.56 \u2013 nearly three seconds better than the second place skier.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe girls skied absolutely fantastic,\u201d said MHS Coach Rex Channell. \u201cWe had a great giant slalom, and the girls from Brewster got in there a little tighter than us in the slalom. It was very close. You also couldn\u2019t ask for a more beautiful day for skiing, the course was set very well for the caliber of skiers we had, and our girls responded with some great runs.\u201d<\/p>\n

Throughout the regular season, Alpine Race Team members compete in the Mt. Institute Ski League. Quigg led her team to a second place in the league, and also placed in second in the individual standings.<\/p>\n

\"Haleigh<\/a>

Haleigh Quigg, a senior, led Miss Hall\u2019s School Alpine race team to a second place in the championship round held Feb. 12 at Mt. Sunapee, N.H.<\/p><\/div>\n

Quigg has been skiing since she was three years old. Both of my parents skied all their lives, so it was a given I would be a skier also,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

The second-place finish comes on the heels of last year\u2019s NEPSAC Championship and as the Hurricanes continue putting together consistent weekly performances in Mount Institute Ski League competition, which wraps up on Wednesday at Eaglebrook School. The varsity team currently holds second place, while the JV team occupies first place.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese girls have worked hard all year, and they deserve all the accolades\u201d Coach Channell added. \u201cWe have a very, very strong team, and I hope in years to come we can have a team this strong. I\u2019m super proud of these girls.\u201d<\/p>\n

Although Miss Hall\u2019s skiing has ended for the season, Quigg is not finished yet. \u201cI am currently at the USSA Eastern Finals competing. After that I have a few more point races,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Her future plans include skiing for Hobart and William Smith Colleges competing on the USCSA level, D3.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
