The Division IV Champion Lady Meteors who have earned the top seed in District II AA going into the playoffs this week, fought hard against the District II A number two ranked Lady Foresters Monday, Feb. 10, to seal up their regular season home court play with a victory, but it didn\u2019t come easily.<\/p>\n

Montrose outscored Forest City in the first quarter 14-10 with Lattimore, Lewis, and Fallon Gurn each scoring four points, and Morgan Groover scoring two from the foul line.<\/p>\n

Forest City answered with 3-pointers made by Carly Erdmann and Cassandra Bendyk who also added two other buckets.<\/p>\n

Lady Meteors Groover and Lattimore dominated under the basket with four and three rebounds, respectively.<\/p>\n

The Lady Foresters turned the tables on Montrose in the second quarter, outscoring Montrose, 11-5. Lewis added another basket and Meghan Gilhool put up one more plus a foul shot.<\/p>\n

The Lady Foresters scored five points as well with a 3-pointer from Anna Congdon and another basket by Emily Lewis.<\/p>\n

But Forest City\u2019s Madison McGraw, Erdmann, and Bendyk capitalized from the foul line adding six more points to give the Lady Foresters a 21-19 lead at the half.<\/p>\n

The Lady Meteors came out hard in the third period, fixing some of the mistakes made in the second.<\/p>\n

Several lead changes marked the second half of play.<\/p>\n

Montrose\u2019s Nicki Lewis scored to grab the lead back for the Lady Meteors, only to have it snatched away when Bendyk made a 3-pointer for Forest City. The Lady Foresters outscored Montrose in the third quarter, 9-8, with Erdman scoring two and Bendyk adding four more to her previously scored 3-pointer.<\/p>\n

For Montrose, Gilhool added six more points to Lewis\u2019s basket, but it wasn\u2019t enough capture the lead with Forest City up by three at the end of the third.<\/p>\n

The final quarter saw the Lady Meteors execute an excellent defense, holding Forest City to four points \u2013 all scored by Bendyk.<\/p>\n

Montrose had five steals; two from Gilhool, two from Lewis, and one from Groover. Gilhool and Lattimore also had two rebounds each. There were four blocked shots, one from Gilhool, one from Lattimore, and two from Groover in the last 30 seconds of the game and stopping two Forester scoring drives down the court.<\/p>\n

Kourtney Snigar landed the go-ahead basket for Montrose; and this time the Lady Meteors kept their lead. Lattimore scored six points, Groover scored a basket off her steal, and Gilhool was two for three from the foul line giving the Montrose a 39-34 victory over Forest City.<\/p>\n

The high scorer for Montrose was Gilhool with 11 points followed by Lattimore with 10. Forest City\u2019s high scorer was Bendyk with 20.<\/p>\n

The game \u2013 which was also the Montrose girls\u2019 senior night \u2013 the team\u2019s two seniors, Myra Lattimore and Nicki Lewis were honored.<\/p>\n

\nAt Elk Lake, Casey Tyler scored 16 points to lead the Lady Warriors to a Division IV win.
\nJustine Johns added 13 points for the winners.
\nNicole Barnes led Susquehanna with 10 points.<\/p>\n

Dunmore, 77
\nMountain View, 28<\/strong>
\nAt Mountain View, No. 2 Dunmore scored a 77-28 Division III-IV crossover win over the Lady Eagles.
