Forest City Coach Luke Pisarcik and his Foresters took the long bus ride to Montrose high school Friday night to face off against the Meteors.
\nThe Foresters are a young team with only one senior, Ricky Yankaukas, on the roster. They had their work cut out for them against the seasoned Montrose team with five seniors.<\/p>\n

The Foresters came out swinging, by shooting from beyond the 3-point line and<\/p>\n

were successful sinking two of them; one from Noah Fedak and one from Adam Kowalewski.<\/p>\n

But those were the only baskets the Foresters were able to make in the first quarter and it wasn\u2019t enough to stop the Meteors who outscored them 14-6 at the end of the period.<\/p>\n

Troy Ely, Erik Burgh, and Cameron Dean each sank a 3-pointer and Dean put up an additional five points.<\/p>\n

The Foresters had quite a bit more success in the second quarter by doubling their first quarter points to earn 12 points in the second quarter; Yankaukas put in 5, Matt Nevins added 5 more, and Fedak put in another 2.<\/p>\n

But Montrose would not be stopped and beat their first quarter score also. Ely put in another 3-pointer, as did sophomore Justin Richel; and Frank Fruehan dropped in an easy lay-up.<\/p>\n

Dean was on fire from the foul line making five of his six attempts. And a the half, the Meteors led 30-18.<\/p>\n

A third quarter shooting slump for the Foresters only allowed them to put up four points in the quarter, falling further behind the Meteors who racked up another 20 points.<\/p>\n

Burgh put in his second 3-pointer along with three more points; Jack Fruehan added six; Brenton Warner, Dean, Frank Fruehan, and Richel each added another two. When the clock ran out on the third quarter the Meteors were up 50-22.<\/p>\n

During the most of the fourth quarter the Montrose starters sat while the bench came in to finish the game.<\/p>\n

Cody Benedict added to his playing minutes and freshmen Devin Frey and Liam McGranaghan got their first playing opportunities of the season at the varsity level.<\/p>\n

The Foresters were not ready to give up and posted their best quarter of the game, putting in 15 points.<\/p>\n

Yankaukas, Nevins, and Fedak all scored again while John Darrencamp and freshman Jared Paulin also added points to the scoreboard for Forest City.<\/p>\n

While it wasn\u2019t enough to take the win, it was a great way to show their endurance and never say die attitude.<\/p>\n

In the end Montrose earned the win 63-37.<\/p>\n

The high scorer for Montrose Dean with 20, followed by Burgh with 13. Forest City\u2019s high scorers were Fedak with 11 and Nevins with 10.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
