County Commissioners adopted the 2014 $25 million county budget at the Dec. 26 meeting.<\/p>\n

Total millage held steady with no increase from 2013 at 10.83 mills, but taxpayers will get some relief.<\/p>\n

A tax credit \u2013 equivalent to two mills \u2013 will be given to property owners, funded from Act 13 monies.<\/p>\n

Sheriff Deputy Jon Record was hired to the non-union position of Chief Deputy Sheriff.<\/p>\n

Maximus Consulting Services Inc. was contracted to conduct the cost allocation plan for the county for 2013, 2014 and 2015 at $4,900 per year. The study determines the costs of services used by each of the departments.
\nA 20-year reciprocal licensing agreement with Pennsylvania State Police for the use of Commonwealth towers.<\/p>\n

After rejecting the sole bid received for the entry-way construction project planned for the treasurer\u2019s office, the commissioners put the project out to bid a second time.<\/p>\n

The county received seven bids for the project, ranging in price from $179,300 to $270,798.<\/p>\n

The commissioners plan to review the bids and will possibly move to award the project at the next meeting.<\/p>\n

Commissioner Alan Hall said funded debt will be used to pay for the improvement project.<\/p>\n

Bids for two county vehicles were also opened at the meeting and awarded to the highest bidders.<\/p>\n

An unmarked, 2007 Chevrolet Impala was awarded to high bidder, Connie Ely-Gulbin; and Lanesboro was the high bidder on the 2008, marked Chevrolet Impala Police Sedan, coming in with a bid of $2,672.<\/p>\n

Richard Ainey, of New Milford, was appointed to the Susquehanna County Historical Society & Library Board of Directors for the term beginning Dec. 26 and ending Dec. 25, 2014.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
