Pennsylvania American Water plans to have Susquehanna Depot\u2019s new water tank in service by Christmas.<\/p>\n

PAWC\u2019s Bill Malos updated borough council about the project at the Nov. 20 meeting.<\/p>\n

Malos said residents who typically experience poor water pressure \u201cwill see better pressure.\u201d But, he said, there will not be any higher static pressure for awhile. \u201cThere will be nothing changed that will affect plumbing,\u201d Malos said.<\/p>\n

But before and after the tank goes into service, there is still work that needs to be done.<\/p>\n

Malos reported that the water tank is completed but there is still piping work to be done; a water line will be going in; and restoration work is expected to take place in the spring.<\/p>\n

Also in the spring, the water company will be working to identify customers who already have pressure regulators. For those who don\u2019t have a regulator, Malos said the company would work to help people install the equipment.
\nThe old water tank is scheduled to be dismantled next summer.<\/p>\n

Malos said the water project had been a \u201cslower project than expected.\u201d<\/p>\n

But he added, it will be a big value to the Susquehanna community.<\/p>\n

In other business, council noted that no bids had been received for the street sweeper.<\/p>\n

The dealer offered the borough $3,000 for the machine in its \u201cas is\u201d condition. Council will also check to see what the scrap value of the sweeper is before deciding how to best dispose of the machine.<\/p>\n

Councilman Joe Varsik reported leaf collection was finishing up in the borough and the trucks would be shifting to handle salt spreading.<\/p>\n

The Susquehanna Community Development Association was granted permission to decorate the light posts with wreaths for the holiday season.<\/p>\n

On Friday, Dec. 6, 7 p.m., there will be a Christmas tree lighting in town, followed by refreshments at the fire hall; and on Saturday, Dec. 7.<\/p>\n

Breakfast with Santa will be held at St. John\u2019s Church, 8:30-10:30 a.m.
\nAhead of the final budget, Mayor Bill Perry asked council to consider bringing up the wages of the police officers so that they were up to the same standards as other departments.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
